In Memory of Sammy

1994~2004

   

Sammy had to be put to sleep today. He had injured himself and was in a lot of pain. We are all saddened by the loss of this gentle and loving animal. In memory of his life, I have put together this page.

I hope you  will take a moment and remember with us, the impression he left on all of us.

No one bothered to inform me about Sam's passing...I can only assume that Mom, Dad and Jud were grieving too much to call me. How is Jud handling it?
I loved the testimonials/eulogies by Sweetie, Scully and the Turtle. Truly deeply moving. May I ask where Sammy was interred? Is the family accepting memorial tributes to Sammy or do they have a favorite charity we should contribute to in lieu of flowers? How are Jill and the girls holding up?

Joel - Lauren told me last night that it was August 1994 we got him and he was 8 weeks old - so change the website please.  Also, please change the link to "our comrade has fallen".  Please.  And also, I will send you more pictures of him as a puppy after the super bowl. Let's never remove the link in memory of him

Hi Sweetie: Sorry again about yesterday. It warmed up enough (45 degrees)
to dig Sammy's grave, so we gave him a nice Christian burial this
afternoon. Mom and Dad said a few words, we all cried, Mom threw in the
first handful of dirt, and I covered him up. We put him on the east side
of the tree where he'll get the morning sun. It's close to the back gate,
which is as far as he ever wanted to go when we'd take our morning walks.
Wish you could have been here. Photos attached.

I've made a contribution to Canine Overeaters Anonymous (one of my favorite charities) and Sweetie and I are wearing black armbands today in honor of Sammy. He was indeed a noble if somewhat corpulent comrade.
