Adarian Judson Betts
![]()
There is more known about Anne Warren Betts than her husband
Judson. We do know through census records that Judson Betts, (I can find no
record of his ever using the name Adarian) was living in the Syeamore Township
in Wyandot County, Ohio, in 1880 and listed his occupation as farmer. He listed
his father as being born in Ohio and his mother in New York.
At the same time, Anne Warren was living with her sister Addie Iden, and her
husband
Lloyd Iden in the Village of Denmark, in Morrow County, Ohio. We do not
know how they met or how they came to be married. She lists her occupation as a
"milliner", so maybe she fixed his hat?

From the obituary below, we can see that "Anne Warren (Betts) was born hear
Mount Gilead, Ohio, Dec. 26th, 1854 and died at her home in Fancher, Illinois,
at the age of 76, a few days shy of her 50th wedding anniversary. She married
Judson Betts Dec. 22, 1881 at Denmark, Ohio, although at this date no marriage
license has been found at the courthouse. Shortly after their marriage they
moved to Illinois and settled on a farm near Bethany, later moving near Windsor,
and then to Fancher where she passed away.
Mrs. Betts was a member of the Byrn Zion Baptist Church near Mount Gilead, Ohio
before her marriage. After settling in Fancher she united with the Free
Methodist Church. When she died she was laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery. Two
of the pallbearers were Harvey Smith and Earl Fox".
One interesting story that has been told often in our family...apparently Judson
and Anne could not get along very well in their golden years. It became so bad
that Judson eventually build Anne her own house next to his for her to live in. Stranger
still...she continued to cook and clean for him.
